Duties
- Conduct thorough medical examinations and diagnose health issues in companion animals, including dogs, cats, and equine species.
- Perform medical-surgical procedures such as animal catheterization, wound management, and routine surgeries with precision and aseptic technique preferred.
- Provide emergency veterinary critical care, stabilizing critically ill or injured animals promptly and effectively.
- Manage laboratory testing and diagnostic procedures utilizing veterinary software to support accurate diagnoses.
- Communicate clearly with pet owners regarding treatment plans, medication instructions, and preventive care strategies while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
- Support administrative functions at the front desk by scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records in compliance with USDA regulations, and adhering to Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulations.
Requirements
- Proven veterinary experience with a strong understanding of veterinary terminology and medical-surgical protocols.
- Demonstrated proficiency in animal handling techniques across various species, including dog handling and equine experience preferred.
- Knowledge of animal anatomy and laboratory procedures essential for accurate diagnosis and treatment.
- Skilled in veterinary critical care practices, aseptic techniques, and laboratory diagnostics.
- Familiarity with veterinary software systems for record keeping and client communication.
- Ability to perform animal restraint safely during examinations or procedures while maintaining calmness under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage clients about pet care needs and treatment options.
- Experience working in a veterinary clinic environment with knowledge of USDA regulations, DEA compliance, and pet care standards.
