Role Description This is a part-time remote Veterinarian role focused on providing professional veterinary consultations and medical guidance to clients through telemedicine and digital communication channels. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing patient histories and medical records, offering diagnostic insights based on available information, developing treatment plans, and advising on follow-up care. The Veterinarian will communicate with pet owners in a clear, empathetic manner, answer questions about preventive care, and coordinate with on-site veterinary teams or local clinics when in-person care is needed. Additional duties may include documenting consultations, updating electronic medical records, contributing to clinical protocols, and participating in virtual team meetings to align on best practices and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Active Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) degree and current veterinary license in at least one U.S. state, with eligibility to practice telemedicine as required by state regulations.
- Proficiency in small animal medicine, including preventive care, common illnesses, and chronic disease management, with the ability to make sound clinical decisions using remote assessment tools.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain medical information in accessible language, maintain professional tone in virtual consultations, and document cases clearly and accurately.
- Comfort with technology, including telehealth platforms, electronic medical records, and secure messaging tools, and ability to adapt to new digital workflows.
- Demonstrated commitment to compassionate, non-judgmental client interactions and respect for diverse backgrounds, with a focus on patient welfare and ethical practice.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage time effectively, and collaborate virtually with other veterinary professionals and support staff.
- Prior experience in general practice, urgent care, or telemedicine is beneficial; experience with client education and preventive health programs is a plus.
- Willingness to stay current with veterinary guidelines and continuing education, particularly in telehealth best practices and small animal care.
