Responsibilities:
– Provide medical care and treatment to a variety of animals, including domestic pets, livestock, and wildlife
– Perform routine check-ups, vaccinations, and preventive care for animals
– Diagnose and treat illnesses, injuries, and diseases in animals
– Conduct surgical procedures as needed
– Prescribe medications and administer treatments to animals
– Educate pet owners on proper animal care and nutrition
– Collaborate with veterinary technicians and other staff members to provide comprehensive care for animals
– Maintain accurate medical records for all patients
Requirements:
– Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited veterinary school
– Valid state veterinary license
– Strong knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, and husbandry
– Experience in animal handling and restraint techniques
– Proficiency in performing diagnostic tests and interpreting laboratory results
– Familiarity with aseptic techniques for surgical procedures
– Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and staff members
– Ability to work well under pressure and make quick decisions in emergency situations
– Willingness to stay updated on the latest advancements in veterinary medicine through continuing education
Preferred Skills:
– Experience in equine or large animal medicine
– Practice management experience
