Role Description The Vet Assistant role at Bond Vet in Fairfax, VA is a full-time, on-site position supporting veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians in delivering high-quality care. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with animal handling and restraint, preparing exam rooms, supporting diagnostic procedures, and maintaining a clean, safe clinical environment. The Vet Assistant helps with patient intake and discharge, provides clear information to clients about follow-up care, and supports treatment plans under veterinary supervision. The role also involves collaborating closely with the medical team, managing basic clinic tasks, and ensuring pets and clients have a compassionate, efficient experience throughout their visit.

Qualifications

  • Ability to provide high-quality Animal Care and Pet Care, including safe handling, monitoring, and comfort of animals in a clinical setting.
  • Strong Client Education and Customer Service skills to explain care instructions, support client questions, and foster a welcoming, empathetic environment.
  • Foundational understanding of Veterinary Medicine principles to support veterinarians and LVTs with exams, treatments, and procedures.
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and time management skills in a fast-paced clinic environment.
  • Prior experience in a veterinary clinic, animal shelter, or related setting preferred; veterinary assistant certification or relevant training is a plus.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, safely lift and handle pets of various sizes, and follow all safety and hygiene protocols.
