Urgent Petcare is a walk-in urgent care and daytime emergency animal hospital. We are looking to hire a veterinary technician comfortable managing urgent care cases for our hospital. CVT certification is a plus but not a requirement.$20 – $25/hr pending skill levelLooking to hire for: Sunday, Tuesday/Wednesday (alternating pending hospital needs), and ThursdaySkill assessment to be completed before interviewHospital Hours:9am-9pm Sunday-Saturday! (Every day of the week 😀 )We are seeking a valuable team member whose experience and ideas will contribute to shaping Urgent Petcare!Skills include (but are not limited to):· Place and maintain intravenous catheters in a diverse set of patients, including neonates, seniors, debilitated, dehydrated or critical patients.· Independently proficient in the pre-anesthetic, anesthetic, and post-anesthetic processes. This includes competency in current anesthetic medications, monitoring, intubation, troubleshooting, documentation, and recovery of patients.· Proficient in calculating drug dosages, ratios, dilutions, concentration, and CRIs· Setup surgical suite and prepare and execute needed pre-operative, operative, and post-operative patient care tasks· Admit patients for hospitalization based on the attending clinician’s medical orders· Perform patient restraint, patient handling, venipuncture, acquisition of x-ray and ultrasound images, and patient treatments· Proficient in protocols pertinent to patients diagnosed or suspected of infectious disease· Able to perform CPR· Able to intubate a patientWriting and Communication Responsibilities· Superb communicator with team members, doctors, diverse clientele, and referral members.· Excellent documentation skills for patients, incident reports, operating procedures, and maintenance information.· Willing to learn how to build treatment and surgical estimates and present estimates to the client· Document patient history, patient vital parameters, medications administered and medical notes pertinent to patient using current veterinary medical terminologyPhysical Qualifications· Ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift patients and equipment regularly that weight up to 50 lbs· While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to bend, stand and walk for frequent and long durations of timeSchedule Expectations· Expected to work flexible hours and be amenable to changing hours based on hospital and staffing needsGeneral Hospital Expectations· Maintenance of surgical pack preps· Maintenance of drug inventory· Maintenance laundry and linen, including· Familiarity with canine and feline breedsEducation Requirements· High School diploma or higher required· 2+ years working in the veterinary field· CVT is not required but is considered an assetOur mission is “healing pets and helping their people.” We are committed to delivering the absolute best veterinary medical care for all patients.
