Salary Range: USD $27.00 – $34.00 per hour
We are currently seeking a Transmission Utility Forester (Capital) to join our team. What You Will Do
- Perform safety oversight of contractors to ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards during all vegetation clearing activities.
- Assist in planning and creating the vegetation clearing scope of work to account for all NERC and utility right‑of‑way standards and expectations.
- Contact property owners to discuss and obtain required written permission to perform vegetation work where necessary.
- Perform and document quality assurance inspections on contractor’s work for compliance with scope of work and the utility’s and industry’s specifications.
- Conduct hazard tree assessments.
- Communicate daily with the utility client, contractors, landowners, and the general public.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of all relevant utility and environmental standards and expectations.
- Complete work summaries, updated QA reports, and progress report updates weekly with a high level of detail.
- Perform duties in a manner that promotes and maintains good public relations.
- Willingness to work storm duty following catastrophic weather events that affect the utility.
- Drive a company vehicle safely to work locations for the organization.
- Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
What You Need To Have
- 1–3 years prior experience in utility vegetation management.
- Local tree identification skills.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities, ability to multi‑task, and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to represent AMS and its services professionally and positively.
- Knowledge of common computer applications and ability to learn new programs.
- Self‑motivated, able to work independently outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
- Ability to work safely and independently in remote areas with limited supervision.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Accurate map reading and spatial judgment skills.
- Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
What Would Be Amazing to Have
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in forestry, environmental science, or related discipline preferred.
- 1–3 years prior experience in forestry, arboriculture, horticulture, or tree‑related green industry.
- ISA Arborist Certification is a plus.
- Prior experience with GIS mapping programs is a plus.
- Strong team mentality, work ethic, and sense of pride in your work is a plus.
- Familiarity with powerline nomenclature and construction is a plus.
- Bi‑lingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Working Environment:
