Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Head Groundskeeper with a passion for maintaining pristine pitches that leave lasting impressions at our Orlando Health Training Grounds at Osceola Heritage Park. This role plays an integral part in maintaining multiple pitches for various teams. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, an excellent communicator, and passionate about leading a high-performing team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee maintenance of 4 natural grass fields, including mowing, edging, fertilizing, aerating, top-dressing, over seeding, sodding, and line striping.
Create and manage the annual facility operating budget in collaboration with the Director of Turf & Grounds to ensure cost efficiency.
Implement effective fertility, fungicide, and pest control programs for Osceola Heritage Park.
Lead research and procurement of equipment and supplies as needed.
Coordinate with the Sr. Event Manager to ensure all field conditions are met for third-party events and venue rentals.
Build effective relationships within the organization, with visitors, staff, and external partners.
Maintain the surrounds of the facility, including mowing, raking, mulching, weeding, edging, trimming, pruning, and planting.
Assist with events at Inter & Co Stadium as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage 2 full-time staff members.
Oversee hiring, training, performance appraisals, and employee discipline in collaboration with People & Culture.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Turf Grass Science, Horticulture, or related field preferred.
5-7 years of grounds maintenance experience in soccer, with at least 3 years in a leadership role preferred.
Ability to obtain the Florida Commercial Pesticide Applicator License.
Experience operating turf-related equipment (tractors, mowers, aerifiers, etc.).
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and supervisory skills.
Excellent communication skills, detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to multitask and adapt.
Ability to resolve concerns independently and efficiently.
Fluency in Spanish is desirable but not required.
Experience hosting field events, including sports and concerts, using various protection systems is a plus.
Physical ability to perform labor in various weather conditions, including walking and standing for periods.
Flexible working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
