Make Robotics Fun Again
my first memory as a kid was grabbing glue and cardboard. the feel of those materials in my hands triggered my neurons. at that moment, i felt like i could make anything.
i love making things. my mind are always bombarded with ideas of what to build.
while i couldn’t find enough time and money to be able to build all the ideas in my head, i find others often hesitant to build theirs.
brooke (my co-founder’s girlfriend) hesitated to build her “find a nightclub based on vibes” app.
farooq (a 13-year-old canadian kid) hesitated to build his talking tree. don’t know why but he’s obsessed with that idea.
making things is an act of learning and growing in life. and i want others to enjoy that act as much as i do.
when i make things, i have feelings like i’m smoking the biggest joint in the world.
with that in mind, my thesis was: people hesitated to make things because they doubt their own abilities and fear that it’s difficult.
that’s why i created the thomas the maker youtube channel. i want people to enjoy the process of building, that it’s not like a panther in the woods that would come out and bite you in the ass. rather it’s like your neighbor’s dog, threatening at first but irresistible once you give it a try.

while making funny-looking robots never earned me a cent, but it has given me many years of great friendships and business. i hope it brings you the same
