Job Description

  • Budgeting and Financial Management
    • Responsible for department labor costs (contract and employee) and third-party relationships.
    • Responsible for creation and execution of complex annual plan, by overseeing and/or managing
    • project and operational costs, maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repair of electrical,
    • mechanical, audio-visual, and computer systems
  • Construction and Maintenance
    • Responsible for the maintenance of the temple and ancillary buildings associated with the temple complex, up to approximately 70,000 square feet (e.g., patron housing, visitor’s center, temple president’s residence, missionary training center, area offices, etc.).
    • Responsible to always maintain established standards during peak usage and when the temple is closed.
    • Provide regular status on project progress, quality, issues, and procurement of materials and equipment.
    • Participate in all final close-out procedures for project(s), including as-built drawing, archiving, letter of substantial completion, warranty process, and letter of recommendation.
    • Ensure project(s) are completed in conformance to design documents and standards requirements.
    • Monitor project(s) schedule to ensure completion is within approved timelines.
    • Responsible for implementing temple maintenance guides and materials and testing improved maintenance methods, systems, and equipment
  • Leadership and Team Management
    • Regularly manage the work of other employees (may include mixed workforce).
    • Responsible, in partnership with human resources, to hire employees and recommend advancement, promotion or any other change of status of employees within their reporting line, and performance management of employees.
    • Typically manages 10 to 20 employees, with two or more people supervisors reporting to them.
    • Communicates with temple president and other priesthood leaders, supervisors and department specialists, local governments, architects, general contractors, and local leaders as needed.
    • Promote exceptional job knowledge, skill levels, and performance of temple facilities services team by providing on-site and remote training, coaching, and mentoring.
    • Responsible for managing the expectations of approximately 3-4 stakeholders.

Required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be in possession of a Temple Recommend and be worthy to possess it.
  • A relevant university (post-secondary) degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Building Industry, Project Management, or a related field, with at least 6–7 years of relevant facilities management experience, or an equivalent combination of education, industry-recognized certification, and experience.
  • Previous leadership experience in a work-related environment, with strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Proven experience in budgeting, financial management, and project management for large facilities.
  • Broad knowledge of facilities systems and operations, including boiler/chiller servicing, electrical motor controls, audiovisual systems, electrical distribution, and plumbing systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong computer literacy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the local language and, where required, in English.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, ask clarifying questions when needed, and support building security and safety requirements.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including extended periods of sitting and computer use.
