Surgery Veterinary Assistant Jobs in Greer, SC at Bedrock Veterinary Specialists Greer

Bedrock Veterinary Specialists is looking for an incredible team at our brand-new specialty surgery practice in Greenville, South Carolina! This is a rare opportunity to build a surgical specialty hospital from the ground up. As our second location, you’ll have the backing of an established organization with nearly 70 years of combined surgical experience — but the freedom to help define the culture from day one. If you’ve ever wanted to put your fingerprint on something truly new in veterinary medicine, this is it. Our name reflects our philosophy. Bedrock was built on two foundational principles: high-quality surgery with a low complication rate, and people with incredible character and skill to deliver it. These two principles are the bedrock from which we grow. At Bedrock, we look for teammates, not employees. Whether you’re caring for patients in the treatment area or welcoming clients at the front desk, we’re looking for people who bring humility, empathy, positivity, and professionalism to everything they do — team members who understand that accountability is rooted in commitment to each other and to our patients, and who help foster an environment where direct communication, mutual respect, and collaboration come naturally. Greenville, South Carolina is an incredible place to live with a one-of-a-kind downtown and easy access to both the mountains and the beach. Building something from scratch in a city like this doesn’t come along often. If this aligns with your values, we would love to hear from you.

Your Impact as a Surgery Veterinary Assistant

  • Deliver Hands-On Clinical Support:
You’ll assist surgeons and technicians with patient exams, triage, and surgical procedures, as well as performing venipuncture, administering oral medications, and taking radiographs.

  • Prepare and Support Every Surgery:
You’ll prepare patients for surgery by clipping and aseptically scrubbing surgical sites, assist with positioning and restraint, support sterile technique in the surgical suite, and help with surgical pack preparation, instrument cleaning, and autoclaving/sterilization.

  • Provide Post-Operative and Compassionate Care:
You’ll monitor patients during recovery, manage pain, and ensure patient comfort—all while maintaining a clean, organized, and sterile facility.

  • Create a Positive Client Experience:
You’ll discharge patients, review post-surgical treatment plans, incision care, and follow-up instructions with clients, and assist with client service operations such as answering phones and scheduling appointments.

  • Drive Operational Excellence:
You’ll accurately maintain medical records, prescriptions, and invoices using our computer systems, support surgical suite turnover between procedures, help monitor surgical supply inventory, and assist with training new teammates.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent (must be at least 18 years old).
  • Veterinary assistant experience is required; experience in a surgical or sterile environment is a strong asset.
  • A calm and efficient approach, with the ability to handle a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment with composure.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • The physical capability to lift and carry animals up to 40 lbs, with comfort in prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, and physical activity.
