Job Overview
Animal Emergency & Specialty Center (AESC) is seeking a highly organized, compassionate, and team-oriented Surgery Liaison and Inpatient
Licensed Veterinary Technician to support our Surgery Department and inpatient patients. This position plays an essential role in coordinating surgical consultations, supporting our surgeon, managing client communication, and providing high-quality pre and postoperative and inpatient care. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced emergency and specialty environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare and coordinate daily surgical consultations, including medical records, diagnostics, exam rooms, and client materials.
· Assist surgeon during consultations and procedures.
· Review estimates, collect required deposits, and facilitate financial conversations in accordance with hospital policies.
· Schedule surgeries, rechecks, rehabilitation appointments, and other follow-up care.
· Communicate with referring veterinarians to obtain medical records, diagnostics, and imaging.
· Provide pre and postoperative and inpatient nursing care, including TPRs, medications, treatments, feeding, walking, monitoring, and patient comfort.
· Prepare and review patient invoices and charges prior to discharge.
· Coordinate client updates, discharge times, prescription requests, and follow-up communication.
· Provide thorough postoperative discharge instructions and client education.
· Complete follow-up calls for recently discharged patients.
· Assist with same-day procedures and other surgical services as needed.
· Support the Surgery and Inpatient teams with patient care, anesthesia monitoring, IV catheter placement, radiographs, blood collection, laboratory processing, and other duties within scope of practice.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked Surgery Department.
· Communicate effectively with our surgeon, technicians, ER staff, client care, and referring veterinary hospitals.
· Provide appropriate shift-to-shift patient handoffs and ensure all hospitalized patients have a clear plan of care before the end of the shift.
Qualifications
Valid Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) credential with current licensure.
· Previous veterinary, emergency, specialty, surgical, or inpatient experience preferred.
· Strong organizational and time-management skills.
· Excellent communication and client-service skills.
· Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
· Compassionate, professional, and team-oriented approach.
· Ability to work independently while recognizing when support is needed.
· Experience with VetRadar or other veterinary medical-record systems is a plus.

Pay: $30.00 – $32.00 per hour
