Agri Eastern Cape is a modern and representative organisation representing commercial agricultural producers. It promotes environmentally sustainable agriculture and strives to influence government policy, formulation and operations to ensure that producers can operate in an enabling environment. It provides value-added services to its members to support their operations.
The organisation is looking for a dynamic, energetic, open-minded individual who is prepared to be based in Gqeberha and travel locally and nationally when required.
Duties and Responsibilities of this position will include, but not be limited to, the following:
· To facilitate engagements with Government Departments on operational plans to address the numerous issues faced by commercial farmers
· Lead and motivate support staff to develop a high-performance culture
· Oversee interaction between Farmer Associations and members with responsible Government Departments at a Provincial, District and Local level, as well as other stakeholders relating to operational constraints and service delivery issues that affect the commercial environment of member producers.
· To support the various functional committees within the organisation to ensure desired results are achieved with Government stakeholders, in line with the overall strategy of Agri Eastern Cape
· Manage engagements and communication between our affiliated members and Associations/Organizations and the activities of Agri EC, to ensure that operational processes move towards tangible results.
· Engage and build trust relations with key partners and stakeholders
Job-related knowledge, skills and requirements:
· Operational planning experience and an understanding of the current political climate as well as having a working knowledge of legislation and legislative frameworks relevant to commercial farming operations will be an advantage.
· Must be able to conduct negotiations with local, provincial and national governmental departments.
· A formal relevant qualification (Degree or Diploma) or sufficient employment experience (min 5 years in a relevant field/occupation)
· Fluent in both English and Afrikaans. Any additional official language will be an advantage.
· A knowledge of agricultural production and agricultural value chains will be an advantage
· Computer literacy with excellent administrative, communication and interpersonal skills will be a pre-requisite
· A good working knowledge of social media platforms as well as the creating and uploading of content
· Must have problem solving, analytical and negotiating skills.
· Experience in a managerial position will be an advantage
· Below 55 years of age. Applicants older than 55 years are however not precluded from applying but preference will be given to suitable younger applicants.
· A code B drivers’ licence
· The successful applicant must possess their own vehicle, which they are prepared to use for official duties, such use to be re-imbursed at an agreed rate.
