Job Description
Introduction
Our Client is a corporately owned Hospital with an exciting opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a specialist ophthalmology referral team. This is a fantastic role for a nurse looking to focus solely on clinical nursing without reception duties, in a supportive and experienced environment.
Working Hours / Rota
The role is 40 hours per week, with shifts between 8:00am and 6:30pm, Monday to Friday. There is a 1:8 weekend on-call rota, with generous out-of-hours payments. Part-time hours and fixed-term contracts can also be considered.
Role Description
The successful candidate will work across a variety of clinical areas including prep, theatre, recovery, procedures, and consultations. Duties include the admission and discharge of patients, perioperative medication provision, assisting with anaesthetic induction, monitoring anaesthesia, preparing patients for surgery, assisting in theatre, recovering patients, and cleaning and caring for instruments. Full training will be provided, and no prior ophthalmology experience is required.
Team Size
This practice operates with a team of 8 RVNs, supported by 2 PCAs.
Practice Details
The practice is a dedicated ophthalmology referral clinic based in Sutton Weaver, Cheshire, with excellent transport links to Liverpool, Manchester, and North Wales. It benefits from multi-disciplinary support from nearby specialist centers and provides off-site treatment for a variety of animals including those at Chester Zoo. Facilities include modern surgical and diagnostic equipment, with a separate client care team to allow nurses to focus purely on patient care.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, work effectively under pressure, demonstrate a high attention to detail, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Experience with capnography, multiparameter monitors (NIBP, IVPB, ECG), and ventilators is desirable, and previous referral practice experience would be advantageous.
