Role Description The Special Education Teacher will provide direct instruction and support to learners with disabilities in an on-site setting in Nairobi. This full-time role involves planning and delivering individualized education programs (IEPs), adapting curriculum and teaching strategies, and assessing student progress regularly. The teacher will collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to promote inclusive practices and ensure that each learner’s needs are met. Daily responsibilities include classroom management, developing learning materials, documenting progress and interventions, and participating in multidisciplinary meetings. The role also requires ongoing communication with caregivers and stakeholders, as well as engagement in professional development to stay current with best practices in special education.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Special Education and experience working with learners with Disabilities.
  • Proven Teaching experience, ideally at the Middle School or upper primary level.
  • Excellent Communication skills for collaborating with learners, families, and colleagues.
  • Relevant academic background in Education, Special Education, or related field.
  • Knowledge of inclusive education practices, IEP development, and behavior support strategies.
  • Ability to create a safe, supportive, and culturally responsive classroom environment.
  • Organizational and documentation skills to track progress and report on student outcomes.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
