Overview
Social Media Manager x Video Editor Jobs in Kilimani division, Nairobi County, Kenya at The Good Flea NYC
Title: Social Media Manager x Video Editor
Company: The Good Flea NYC
Location: Kilimani division, Nairobi County, Kenya
The Good Flea is looking for a fast, culturally aware, and highly organized Video Editor for Social Media based in Nairobi.
This is a social media-focused editing role. You will not be responsible for filming. Your responsibility is to receive footage captured by our on-site team and quickly transform it into engaging, platform-ready content for Instagram, TikTok, Stories, and other social channels. Then finally, post and keep tabs on performance ensuring growth of the brand and Ads over time.
The right person must understand social media deeply—not just how to edit a technically good video. You should know how to create strong hooks, maintain attention, identify the most compelling moments in raw footage, use relevant audio and formats, and turn everyday market footage into content that feels exciting and current.
Speed is extremely important. Content must be edited and delivered while the moment is still relevant.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and review raw footage captured by The Good Flea’s on-site team
- Edit short-form videos for Instagram Reels, TikTok, Stories, and other social platforms
- Turn raw market footage into exciting content that communicates energy, discovery, culture, and community
- Identify the strongest moments, personalities, products, and interactions within supplied footage
- Create compelling opening hooks that capture attention immediately
- Add captions, text overlays, music, sound effects, transitions, graphics, and basic color correction
- Select relevant audio and editing styles based on current social media trends
- Produce same-day and next-day edits when required
- Adapt footage into multiple edits, formats, lengths, and platform-specific variations
- Maintain a clear weekly and monthly content timeline
- Track assigned edits, deadlines, approvals, revisions, and publishing dates
- Manage several pieces of content simultaneously without missing deadlines
- Organize raw footage, completed edits, audio, graphics, and other digital assets
- Coordinate closely with the social media and on-site teams to understand what footage has been captured and what content is needed
- Provide clear feedback on missing footage or additional shots the on-site team should capture
- Respond quickly to feedback and complete revisions within the required timeline
- Monitor social media trends, viral formats, trending audio, editing styles, and platform changes
- Identify relevant trends early and adapt them appropriately for The Good Flea
- Review content performance and use insights to improve future edits
Qualifications
- Strong portfolio of short-form social media videos
- Demonstrated experience editing content for Instagram Reels, TikTok, Stories, or similar platforms
- Strong understanding of social media trends, digital culture, audience behavior, and platform-specific content
- Excellent sense of pacing, storytelling, music, hooks, and audience retention
- Ability to identify a clear story from large amounts of raw footage
- Proficiency in CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, or comparable software
- Experience adding captions, text overlays, audio, transitions, color correction, and basic motion graphics
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to follow a content calendar and manage overlapping timelines and deadlines
- Ability to edit and deliver high-quality work extremely quickly
- Strong file-management skills
- Reliable internet access and the ability to receive and upload large video files
- Clear communication skills and openness to direct creative feedback
- Reliable, responsive, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-changing environment
- Experience editing content related to events, fashion, culture, food, art, nightlife, markets, or community spaces is preferred
Ideal Candidate
You are not simply a technical video editor. You understand the larger social media environment in which your edits will live.
You regularly follow creators, brands, popular sounds, viral formats, editing styles, and changes in online culture. You understand why certain videos perform and can apply those principles without making every piece of content feel repetitive.
You work extremely fast, manage timelines carefully, and remain organized even when several urgent edits arrive at once. You understand that social media content often needs to be delivered on the same day—not several days later.
You can receive footage from a busy market, quickly identify the most exciting story within it, and create a video that makes viewers feel the energy of the space.
