Our externship program offers students the opportunity to work alongside an experienced veterinarian and licensed veterinary technicians while gaining exposure to all aspects of small animal practice.
What You’ll Experience
- Comprehensive wellness and sick patient examinations
- Diagnostic workups and treatment planning
- Surgery and anesthesia observation, with hands‑on learning opportunities as experience allows
- Dentistry
- Digital radiology and ultrasound
- In‑house IDEXX laboratory diagnostics
- Client communication and education
- Medical record documentation using AI‑assisted transcription and Avimark Practice Management Software
- Collaboration with an experienced, highly supportive veterinary team

Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an AVMA‑accredited university for a doctorate in veterinary medicine.
- Be in good academic standing with your veterinary college.
- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and a willingness to learn.
- Willingness to observe and actively participate in all aspects of small animal general practice, including wellness care, outpatient medicine, surgery, dentistry, diagnostics, client communication, and medical record documentation.
- Possess a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to work collaboratively with veterinarians and support staff.
- Potential housing available.
