Shift Leader – Senior Veterinary Technician/Assistant – FT Jobs in Metairie, LA at Local Vet Urgent Care

As an Urgent Care Shift Lead, you will:
Perform and train other staff members in: Phlebotomy, intravenous catheter placements, laboratory testing, among other important technical skills
Assistant Practice Manager with important roles of the business
Monitoring sedated and anesthetized patients
Triage urgent care cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
Perform and train other staff members on digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
Properly calculate medical math and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
Have patience and empathy to address client concerns and learning team members.
Be able to conduct oneself in a professional manner
Accurately record controlled drugs
Have a knowledge of common veterinary drugs, their uses, side effects and dosages
Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment
Job Type: Full-time
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
