Shelter Surgery Vet Technician Jobs in Tampa, FL at Humane Society of Tampa Bay
This position is primarily responsible for assisting veterinarians in providing care to animals through hands on work in our Intake Department at our new shelter.
Holds or restrains animals during examination, treatment, or inoculation.
Administers injections, performs venipunctures, applies wound dressings, cleans teeth, and takes vital signs of animal, under supervision of Veterinarian.
Prepares patient, medications, and equipment for surgery.
Performs routine laboratory tests.
Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Provides nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
Ability to place intravenous catheter in cephalic or saphenous vein.
Performs TPR; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
Understands normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
Able to set up intravenous fluids.
Administers subcutaneous fluids.
Can operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
Able to disconnect and connect patient from intravenous fluids aseptically.
Preparation of animals for anesthesia and surgery, including placement of IV catheters and monitoring anesthesia.
Other duties assigned by management team.
Schedule will be M-F in Surgery and fill in Exam when needed. Rotation of holiday schedule and occasionally working on the weekends for events when needed.
The position will rotate with staff to complete packs for surgery.
Must be able to continuously lift 50lbs + .
MUST have experience as a Surgery Vet Technician.
22.00 an hour 25.00 for CVT’s
Great benefits after 60 days of employment, PTO and holidays after 90days of employment !!!
Schedule is M-F however, this position will need to work weekends when needed.
