The Milo Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue based in Point Richmond, CA, is seeking a licensed Veterinarian to join our on-site team. This role is crucial to our mission of rescuing and adopting animals into loving homes in good health. We are looking for candidates with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in animal care and medical experience.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the team to deliver comprehensive medical care, including preventive care, diagnostic testing, routine treatments, and emergency care for animals from partnering shelters (excluding public surrenders or legal intakes).
Conduct physical exams, assess normal and abnormal parameters in canine and feline patients, and use veterinary terminology effectively.
Assist with the intake process of new animals.
Manage infectious diseases and enforce infection control measures.
Provide daily treatments, diagnostics, and advanced medical care, including subcutaneous fluids, blood draws, microchipping, bandaging, and wound care.
Perform initial physical exams, collect medical histories, and assist with high-volume spay/neuter procedures and other surgeries.
Collaborate with the adoptions team, volunteers, animal care staff, and external veterinary specialists.
Engage in data collection, analysis, and contribute to problem-solving and decision-making.
Assist with additional projects as needed and support animal care during downtime.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in veterinary medicine, including medicine, anesthesia, and surgery.
Current Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) or ability to obtain one.
Experience in ER/ICU settings is advantageous.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse team.
California Veterinary License and DVM required.
Schedule:
8-hour shifts, with availability required on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturdays. Flexible times.
Salary:
$30/hour
