Role Description The Senior Vet is a full-time, on-site role based in the Lahore District, responsible for overseeing clinical care and medical protocols for animals within the shelter, rescue operations, and sanctuary.

Minimum experience: 3-5 years.

Day-to-day tasks include performing examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and surgeries; prescribing medications; and monitoring recovery and overall health. The Senior Vet will guide veterinary assistants and support staff, ensure adherence to welfare and hygiene standards, and maintain accurate medical records. The role also involves advising on nutrition and preventive care, participating in rescue assessments, and collaborating with management on policies, budgets, and planning for long-term animal health and wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong clinical veterinary skills, including diagnostics, treatment planning, surgery, and emergency care.
  • Candidates should possess skills in animal handling, behavior assessment, and stress reduction techniques for companion and rescued animals.
  • Candidates should possess abilities in medical record-keeping, case documentation, and basic use of veterinary practice software.
  • Candidates should possess skills in team leadership, staff mentorship, and clear, compassionate communication with colleagues and the public.
  • Candidates should hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree and valid registration/license to practice veterinary medicine in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Candidates should have prior experience in animal shelter medicine, rescue organizations, or high-volume clinical settings; experience with resource-limited environments is an advantage.
  • Candidates should demonstrate commitment to animal welfare, ethical practice, and continuous professional development in veterinary medicine.
  • Candidates should be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed, and be physically capable of handling animals of varying sizes.
