Senior Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) – Lead Position
Cahuenga Veterinary Hospital is seeking a highly experienced Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our team in a senior/lead clinical role. This position is ideal for an RVT with a strong technical and medical knowledge base who is confident working independently, supporting doctors, mentoring team members, and helping maintain a high standard of patient care throughout the hospital.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for an RVT who:
- Has extensive experience in small animal veterinary medicine
- Holds a current California RVT license
- Demonstrates advanced technical skills and a strong understanding of veterinary medicine
- Is organized, dependable, efficient, and able to prioritize in a busy hospital environment
- Has strong communication skills with both clients and team members
- Is confident working with complex medical and surgical cases
- Takes ownership of patient care and hospital workflow
- Enjoys teaching and mentoring less experienced team members
- Maintains professionalism and composure during urgent cases and high-volume periods
Advanced Skills & Responsibilities
The ideal candidate should be proficient in many of the following:
- Advanced venipuncture and IV catheter placement
- Anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
- Management of higher-risk anesthetic patients
- Dental procedures, dental radiographs, charting, and assisting with advanced dentistry
- Surgical preparation and sterile technique
- Emergency and critical patient triage
- In-house laboratory procedures and interpretation of basic laboratory findings
- Medication calculations, CRIs, and fluid therapy
- Radiographic positioning and image acquisition
- Patient hospitalization and treatment management
- Assisting with ultrasound and advanced diagnostic procedures
- Maintaining accurate and thorough medical records
- Controlled drug and treatment protocol compliance
Compensation
Compensation is competitive and based on demonstrated skill level, experience, leadership ability, and medical knowledge base.
We recognize that RVT experience can vary significantly, and compensation for this position will reflect the candidate’s actual technical capabilities and the level of responsibility they are able to assume within the hospital.
Pay: $32.00 – $36.00 per hour
