Role Description The Senior Policy Advisor is a full-time, on-site role based in Islamabad. This position is responsible for leading policy research and development related to migration, human trafficking, and smuggling of migrants, and for translating complex evidence into clear, actionable recommendations. Day-to-day tasks include drafting policy briefs, position papers, and advocacy documents; analyzing existing laws and regulations; and monitoring regional and global policy trends relevant to migrants’ rights. The Senior Policy Advisor will engage with government agencies, civil society partners, and international organizations, represent Legal ID Foundation in stakeholder meetings, and contribute to legislative advocacy and strategic planning. The role also involves mentoring junior staff, supporting program design, and ensuring that all policy work aligns with the organization’s mission and ethical standards.
Qualifications
- Strong policy development and public policy skills, with experience designing and evaluating policies related to migration, human rights, or social protection.
- Advanced analytical and research skills, including the ability to interpret legal texts, policy documents, and quantitative or qualitative data.
- Excellent communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to tailor messaging for policymakers, partners, and community audiences.
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, advocacy, or government relations, preferably in NGOs, international organizations, or public sector institutions.
- Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in public policy, law, international relations, social sciences, or a related field.
- Knowledge of migration governance, anti-trafficking frameworks, and human rights standards; familiarity with regional context in Pakistan and South Asia is an asset.
- Proven ability to work in a multicultural environment, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strong ethical judgment, commitment to non-discriminatory practices, and alignment with the mission of promoting dignity and protection for migrants.
