As a senior member of the Parks Team, you will lead efforts to maintain ornamental gardens, forested areas, and event spaces. Your responsibilities will include ecological restoration, invasive species control, and mentoring junior staff in technical skills. A high degree of attention to detail is essential for success in this multifaceted role.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain and install seasonal planters and ornamental gardens
• Identify Ontario native and invasive species onsite
• Perform winter dormant pruning on orchards and forest stands
• Execute invasive species control plans with best practices
• Mentor junior and seasonal staff in horticultural tasks
Requirements:
• 5+ years in horticulture or ecological restoration
• Degree or Diploma in Horticulture or Ecology
• Standard First Aid/CPR, WHMIS 2015 certification
• Chainsaw safety and working at heights certification are assets
• Ability to operate utility vehicles and maintain public spaces
