Job Description
SEMCO – Laborer – STL 3135
SEMCO Energy is seeking a Laborer for our Newberry, MI team. Under general supervision, the Laborer performs work similar to that of the “C” classification and may undertake other related tasks within their classification.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Safely operate a company vehicle, managing inventory, maintenance, and safe operation.
Perform minor painting, vehicle cleaning, and janitorial duties.
Maintain a valid commercial driver’s license as required by the company.
Follow standard safety precautions to ensure safety and prevent accidents.
Assist in other departments as needed.
Operate and perform minor maintenance on power equipment for lawn care and snow removal.
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Effective written and oral communication skills, with a customer service focus.
Valid driver’s license as per company requirements.
Ability to write legibly and operate a personal computer satisfactorily.
Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
Physical Requirements
Candidate must have the physical ability to perform job duties, including walking at least 10 miles daily in various weather conditions, sitting, standing, stooping, bending, crawling, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, lifting (20-50 lbs.), twisting, reaching, and fine motor skills. Must work in extreme weather conditions and may be exposed to insects, insecticides, and respirator use.
Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive hourly rate of $25.12, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
