Position: Seasonal Maintenance Worker (Building and Grounds)
About Us
The Building and Grounds crew is responsible for the upkeep of the city buildings and facilities, including regular maintenance, lawn care, pest control, and repairs among other duties.
Position Overview
Performs routine building and grounds maintenance activities for the City of Fulton. This is a seasonal position. Must be available to work Monday through Friday, 6:30am to 3:00pm. Work is primarily outdoors and requires the ability to perform duties in hot weather conditions.
Essential Duties
- Mow grass and maintain lawns and landscaped areas throughout City properties
- Operates weed-eaters and edging equipment along sidewalks, fences, and buildings
- Performs general grounds maintenance, including trimming, debris removal, and litter pickup
- Assists with basic maintenance and repair tasks as assigned
- Loads and unloads materials, tools, and equipment
- Maintains equipment and reports maintenance needs as necessary
- Utilizes appropriate safety equipment and procedures
- Assists with other building and grounds duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements
Experience, Education, and Training
- This is an entry-level position
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, mowing, or general labor is preferred but not required
Requirements
- Must be able to work outdoors in heat and varying weather conditions
- Must pass pre-employment drug testing and background check
- Some assignments may require the incumbent to possess a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License
- Must be able to follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate safety equipment
- Subject to working occasional adjusted hours as needed

- Operate mowing equipment, weed-eaters, trimmers, and other hand and power tools
- Utilize appropriate safety equipment and follow safety procedures and precautions when carrying out essential functions
