Full Time Seasonal Greenhouse Nursery Assistant

Our greenhouse here in Fort Wayne is a fun and vibrant environment to work. We’re looking for someone who is not afraid to get their hands dirty!
McNamara at Sandpoint is two acres of production greenhouses and a retail florist and gift shop. This position is 40hrs/week including weekends through at least July with the potential of a more permanent position.
Greenhouse Nursery Assistant
Duties
:
Responsible for the day to day activities that provide the means of producing quality, salable plant production.
Responsible for communicating plant information or growing problems to head grower.
Responsible for monitoring and acting upon crop and grounds needs such as watering, cleaning, and pruning of plants.
Help customers with plant locations, information, and appropriate choices for their needs.
Willingness to learn about perennials, roses, and shrubs being sold as to their characteristics.
Physical and Other Requirements:
Very physical job; stocking plant material, walking all day, lifting up to 50lbs repetitively.
May be bending, reaching, kneeling, etc.
Must be able to tolerate extreme environmental conditions.
You will be hot, wet, and dirty during most of your time here.
Fast-pacedworking environment.
Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must be available to work up to 40 hours per week including weekends.
May work overtime during peak season between May and July.
Some knowledge of plants required.
Must be able to work independently and in teams.
Learn how to take care of a wide variety of plants in the greenhouse and loyee discounts on plants and merchandise. Working in the greenhouse and the floral industry is fun,exciting, and ever-changing!
