Position: Ropes Course Specialist – Lakewood-Trumbull Y Camp Tepee
Do you love adventure, working outdoors, and inspiring confidence in others? The Y is looking for a skilled Ropes Course Specialist to lead and facilitate exciting high- and low-ropes activities for campers in a seasonal day camp setting. You’ll create safe, fun, and engaging programs that encourage teamwork, personal growth, and self-confidence in youth.
As part of our camp team, you’ll play a vital role in delivering impactful experiences while promoting a positive atmosphere that reflects the Y’s values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate ropes course activities, ensuring safety and fun for all participants.
Conduct equipment checks, monitor participants, and adhere to safety guidelines.
Prepare and deliver lesson plans tailored to meet the needs of campers.
Build nurturing relationships with campers and foster a sense of teamwork and growth.
Model the Y’s core values and maintain a positive, supportive environment.
Minimum Requirements:
Certification in ropes course facilitation or equivalent experience preferred.
At least 1 year of experience in ropes course instruction or facilitation.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Positive attitude, adaptability, and a passion for working with youth.
Current certifications in First Aid, CPR/AED, and O2 administration (or willingness to obtain before the start of camp).
Physical ability to climb, balance, and work safely at heights.
Must participate in outdoor activities for up to 8 hours per day.
Frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Work in a moderate to high noise environment.
Comfortable working at heights as part of ropes course facilitation.
