Title: Research Scientist: Biomaterials and Cell Culture
Company: Nuvex Biotech
Location: Islamabad, Islāmābād, Pakistan
Nuvex Biotech is a contract research organization in Islamabad working with pharmaceutical and biotech companies on early-stage development programs, from formulation and analytical method development through stability and regulatory strategy. Work is run under a documented quality system to standards suitable for client and regulatory review.
We are recruiting a Research Scientist to our biomaterials lab to lead laboratory execution of a decellularized extracellular matrix program for veterinary wound care.
The role
Reporting to the Founder and working alongside the formulation and analytical functions, you will own material preparation, characterization, and in vitro performance evaluation for the program.
Responsibilities
- Process animal tissue to decellularized matrix using detergent and nuclease workflows; optimize for residual DNA, matrix retention and batch consistency
- Quantify residual dsDNA by fluorometric assay against defined acceptance criteria; assess matrix integrity by histology
- Isolate and maintain primary dermal fibroblasts; establish and control passage number, confluence and contamination status
- Execute scratch migration and viability assays with proliferation control, vehicle control and comparator arms; perform image-based quantification
- Interpret data against study objectives and identify when a result reflects biology versus method artifact
- Author protocols, raw data records and technical reports to review-ready standard
Requirements
- MS or PhD in biotechnology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, tissue engineering or related discipline
- Minimum one year of independent hands-on adherent or primary cell culture, including aseptic technique, passaging, cryopreservation and contamination troubleshooting
- Direct experience executing at least one quantitative cell-based assay through to analyzed data
- Competence in quantitative image analysis (ImageJ/FIJI or equivalent)
- Working knowledge of laboratory documentation practice
Applications that do not meet all of the above will not be reviewed.
Preferred
Decellularization or scaffold fabrication; collagen and hydrogel handling; primary cell isolation from tissue; fluorometric nucleic acid quantification; histology and staining; wound healing or veterinary context.
What we offer
Ownership of a defined workstream within a growing biomaterials portfolio, close collaboration with formulation and analytical functions, and exposure to the regulatory and commercial dimensions of product development.
Compensation: PKR 70,000 to PKR 90,000; commensurate with experience.
