Blue Pearl Pet Hospital in Des Moines, IA is seeking a skilled Relief Veterinary Technician to join our team!
Responsibilities:
Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients, utilizing anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
Triaging emergency cases, including obtaining vital signs such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
Performing digital radiography, ensuring proper technique and patient positioning.
Understanding normal ranges of vital signs and alerting veterinarians to any changes.
Monitoring vital signs, interpreting results, and recognizing patients at risk for arrest, initiating CPR when necessary.
Calculating medical dosages, administering medications via appropriate routes and durations.
Performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters.
Placing and maintaining feeding tubes and central line catheters.
Mentoring and training team members with patience and empathy.
