Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital in Akron is in need of a Registered Veterinary Technician – Oncology Department.
Primary responsibilities would include, but is not limited to:
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with doctors, staff and clients regarding patient status is essential
- Ability to monitor and manage patients under anesthesia
- Administration of oral and parenteral medication
- Administration and proper handling and preparation of Chemotherapy agents
- Ability to assess side effects of common Chemotherapy drugs used
- Ability to anticipate needs of the doctor
- Animal Restraint
- Blood pressure assessment
- Calculation and administration of CRI
- Assisting with continuous oxygen
- ECG
- IV Catheter placement
- Pain assessment
- Ability to perform CPR
- Placement, care and maintenance of urinary catheters
- Proper collection and performance of in-house blood tests
- Proper collection and packaging of out-lab blood tests
- Ability to recognize signs of shock
- Vital sign assessment
Candidates must be a licensed RVT in the State of Ohio with a proven ability to function in a fast paced environment. Experience in an emergency facility preferred.
