Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Registered Nurse role based in Homa Bay County, Kenya. The Registered Nurse will provide direct patient care in home and community settings, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions. Responsibilities include administering medications, monitoring treatment outcomes, educating patients and families on health promotion and disease prevention, and collaborating with physicians, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate integrated care. The nurse will use digital applications to document care, schedule visits, and communicate with the wider care team, while adhering to clinical guidelines, infection prevention protocols, and patient safety standards. The role also involves participating in outreach programs, supporting continuity of care, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Current registration and licensure as a Registered Nurse with the relevant nursing council or regulatory body in Kenya.
- Solid clinical nursing skills, including patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, and monitoring of vital signs and treatment responses.
- Knowledge of community health, home-based care, and chronic disease management, with the ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Ability to use electronic health records and mobile or web-based applications for documentation, scheduling, and communication.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, sound clinical judgment, and adherence to evidence-based practice and infection prevention standards.
- Capability to work independently in home and community environments, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing patient needs.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution; additional training in community health, primary care, or home-based care is an advantage.
- Experience in pharmaceutical or integrated care settings is beneficial, along with familiarity with quality assurance and patient safety initiatives.
