Mentored by: Current Ranch Hand/Grounds and Maintenance Technician/VP
Job Status: Non-exempt/hourly
Location: Ranch Facility, Winter Haven, FL/Show Facility
POSITION SUMMARY
Ranch Hand and maintenance and grounds technician for Natural Encounters, Inc. animal facility. As an AZA Certified Facility, it is imperative that the grounds and equipment reflect the professionalism and dedication provided for all animals in our care. Supports, upholds, and promotes the goals, purpose and growth of Natural Encounters, Inc. and its affiliates.

General horticulture/care of the grounds
Lawn mowing
Tree trimming
Maintain Facility equipment
Organization of all tools and equipment
Regular maintenance of all facility’s equipment
Record keeping on all equipment services
Operation of Ranch Equipment
Mowers
Tractors
Power equipment
Use of hand tools
Drills
Chainsaws
Other small tools
Construction and deconstruction of animal enclosures
General maintenance
Animal Enclosures
Buildings on property
Pest control
Work with Pest Control Officer
Assist through the use of exclusion or traps
Safety
Follow all safety protocols
Ability to climb and work off of ladders and scaffolding
Ability to safely operate work platforms

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Competency Statement(s)
Valid Florida Driver’s License within 60 days of employment
Ability to work in a team environment exemplifying the NEI Code of Conduct in their everyday actions and interactions with others.
Safety awareness
Ability to identify and correct safety concerns
Self-motivated to grow their own skills
Knows NEI protocols (safety, administrative, etc.) and follows them, or asks for further information
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education
High School Diploma or G.E.D
Experience in grounds and maintenance/construction
Other Requirements
Easily adapts to changes in routines
Ability to work at other Natural Encounters, Inc. locations both in and out of state
Maintains high level of communication with management and team
Works independently and without direct supervision
Prioritizes and completes tasks on schedule
Ability to work some evenings, weekends, and Holidays
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work Environment
Work in extreme outdoor heat – 90+ degrees
Work in a noisy and hectic environment
Lift 50lbs
Stand/walk up to 8 hours per day
