Family owned practice seeking a Veterinary Technician/Nurse. Our practice has a steady low key, high quality feel. The ideal candidate will be above all a caring and dependable person. This is an opportunity to work in a gentle environment where respect is the top priority for patients, clients and each other. This is a Companion Animal Veterinary position (specifically canine and feline) The wide range in wages depends on your abilities and qualifications, with the higher range reserved for those able to draw blood and place catheters as well as certified/licensed candidates.
Duties
- Animal restraint and handling to ensure safety during procedures.
- Assist with history taking (anamnesis) clinical examinations, diagnostics, and treatments and medication fulfillment.
- Able to perform blood draws and place intravenous catheters without doctor supervision strongly desired
- Ear and blood cytology preparation.
- Familiarity with Idexx in house laboratory equipment
- Surgical prep, including techniques for orthopedic interventions
- Administer medications, and treatments as prescribed
- Monitor anesthesia and vital signs during surgical procedures
- Maintain accurate medical records and document patient care details
- Operate x-ray equipment to capture diagnostic images
- Recognize issues with patients while hospitalized as well as recovering from anesthetic procedures.
- Dentistry abilities will garner an increase in compensation. – COHAT, digital dental radiography, dental charting.
- Basic knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy,
- Good communication skills for interacting with clients and team members
- Fear Free certification a plus.
Pay: $24.00 – $36.00 per hour
