Our client, a manufacturing company specialising in PP woven and non-woven packaging bags, is seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee and manage all production activities at its manufacturing plant in Burundi.

The successful candidate will be responsible for production planning, team supervision, machine utilisation, quality control, raw material management and ensuring production targets are achieved within the required timelines and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organise and oversee daily, weekly and monthly production activities in line with customer orders and approved production schedules.
  • Supervise the manufacturing of PP woven and non-woven bags, ensuring required quantities, specifications, quality standards and delivery timelines are achieved.
  • Lead and manage production teams, including work allocation, shift planning, attendance, performance management and staff development.
  • Ensure machinery and production equipment are properly operated and efficiently utilized, working closely with the Technical and Maintenance teams to minimise downtime.
  • Monitor raw material and consumable requirements, production losses, wastage, scrap and non-conforming products to support cost control and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, occupational health, hygiene and safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Prepare and present regular production reports covering output, targets, machine downtime, wastage, quality issues, raw material requirements, team performance and production challenges.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant qualification in Industrial Production, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Industrial Management or a related field.
  • Proven experience managing production operations within an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in PP woven bags, non-woven bags, plastics, packaging or a related manufacturing environment will be highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning, manufacturing processes, machinery operation and production management.
  • Experience managing and supervising production teams within a factory environment.
  • Good understanding of quality management, machinery maintenance, cost control and industrial health and safety requirements.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, decision-making, problem-solving and reporting skills, with a results-oriented approach.
