Role Description The Prior Authorization Specialist – Radiology is a full-time remote role responsible for managing and securing authorizations for radiology services. This role involves reviewing orders and clinical documentation, verifying insurance coverage, and initiating prior authorization requests with payers. The specialist will communicate with providers, radiology departments, and insurance representatives to clarify requirements, resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely approvals. Daily tasks include documenting all interactions in designated systems, tracking authorization status, updating internal stakeholders, and escalating issues when necessary to prevent delays in patient care. The role also includes maintaining up-to-date knowledge of payer policies, following HIPAA and compliance standards, and contributing to process improvements that support efficient revenue cycle and patient scheduling workflows.
Qualifications

  • Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent is required; post-secondary education or certification in healthcare administration, medical billing, or related fields is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting, with reliable internet access and proficiency in common office and communication software.
