Division: Broiler Farming

Designation: Line Supervisor / Production Supervisor / ETS

Reports to: Branch Manager

Location: West Bengal

Employment type: Full-time, farm-based (on-site presence required)

Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years

Role Summary

We are looking for a hands-on Line Supervisor to run the day-to-day operations of assigned broiler sheds and ensure each batch hits its target performance on weight, FCR, livability, and biosecurity. The role owns flock health, environment, and feed management from chick placement through to lifting, and leads the shed-level workforce.

Key Responsibilities

Flock & brooding management

  • Manage chick placement and the brooding phase (first 7–14 days): temperature, humidity, chick distribution, and early feed/water access.
  • Monitor daily bird health and behaviour; identify early signs of disease, stress, or non-uniformity and escalate to the technical/veterinary team.
  • Maintain correct stocking density and lighting program for each phase of the cycle.

Feed & water

  • Execute feed schedules and phase transitions (pre-starter / starter / finisher) as per program.
  • Manage feeder and drinker lines; minimise feed wastage and water spillage; ensure 24/7 access.
  • Track daily feed consumption and reconcile against bird numbers.

Environment & house management

  • Control ventilation, temperature, and minimum air quality; operate fans, foggers, brooders/heaters, and curtains.
  • Maintain dry, friable litter and manage moisture to protect foot/breast health and reduce ammonia.

Biosecurity & health

  • Enforce strict biosecurity: entry/exit discipline, footbaths, vehicle and equipment disinfection, rodent/pest control, and visitor logging.
  • Administer vaccination and medication strictly per the approved schedule, coordinating with the farm veterinarian.

Performance & records

  • Record and monitor daily KPIs: body weight / average daily gain, mortality and culling, FCR, livability/uniformity, and EPEF (production efficiency factor).
  • Maintain accurate daily logs for production, feed usage, mortality, medication, and environmental readings.

Lifting / cycle close-out

  • Coordinate feed withdrawal, catching, and loading at the end of the cycle to minimise weight loss, injury, and condemnation.
  • Oversee post-lift cleanout, disinfection, and downtime preparation for the next batch.

Equipment & team

  • Keep sheds, feeders, drinkers (nipple lines), lighting, and ventilation equipment in working order; raise breakdowns promptly.
  • Supervise, schedule, and train shed attendants/farm workers; allocate daily tasks and verify completion.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Target FCR and average body weight at lifting
  • Livability / low mortality and culling rates
  • Flock uniformity and EPEF
  • Biosecurity and vaccination compliance (zero protocol breaches)
  • Accuracy and timeliness of daily records

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of hands-on experience in commercial broiler farming, ideally in a supervisory capacity.
  • Diploma/degree in Poultry Science, Animal Husbandry, or Veterinary/Agriculture — or equivalent practical experience.
  • Working knowledge of broiler nutrition, brooding, vaccination programs, and biosecurity.
  • Comfortable reading and acting on performance data (FCR, weight curves, mortality trends).
  • Willing to live on or near the farm site and work rotational/early shifts as the flock requires.
  • Basic record-keeping ability (registers and/or farm management app/spreadsheet).
