Role Description The Porter/Valet is a full-time, on-site role based at Gracious Whisp Boutique Hotel in Windhoek. This role is responsible for welcoming guests on arrival, assisting with luggage, and safely parking and retrieving vehicles in a courteous and efficient manner. Day-to-day tasks include escorting guests to rooms, providing information about hotel facilities and local attractions, supporting front desk operations, and monitoring entrances to ensure a secure and orderly environment. The Porter/Valet helps maintain clean and organized lobby and driveway areas, coordinates with other team members to respond to guest requests promptly, and upholds the hotel’s standards of professionalism, safety, and guest care.
Qualifications
- Strong Communication and Customer Service skills, with the ability to interact professionally and courteously with guests and colleagues.
- Experience acting as a Gatekeeper for property access, including monitoring entrances, directing traffic, and supporting safety and security procedures.
- Background in Training or Education related to hospitality, customer service, or front-of-house operations is beneficial.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record, with confidence in handling a variety of vehicles, including manual and automatic transmissions.
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift luggage for extended periods, and to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Professional appearance, reliability, and attention to detail, with a focus on creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all guests.
- Prior experience in a hotel, guesthouse, or similar hospitality setting is an advantage but not a strict requirement.
