About The Role
The Planned Distribution Arborist reports to the Senior Consulting Utility Forester. Key responsibilities include identifying, inspecting, and evaluating trees and brush along utility lines, submitting inspection reports with recommendations, and coordinating activities of tree clearance crews. The role requires a passion for outdoor work, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills.
What You’ll Do
Identify and inspect trees, understanding growth rates.
Map circuits using client data.
Monitor and investigate distribution or transmission circuits, coordinating work with contractors.
Record tree trimming and removal prescriptions using digital systems.
Notify property owners about work, manage work issuance, and track progress.
Conduct outage investigations and negotiate access issues.
Perform herbicide audits and assist with storm restoration.
Audit work performed by contractors to ensure compliance and determine future needs.
Complete post-audit documentation and ensure regulatory compliance.
Obtain permits and adhere to safety and legal standards.
Attend to all attendance, work hours, and safety requirements.
Represent ACRT positively, build relationships, and communicate effectively with clients and teams.
Perform other duties as assigned.
About You
Must haves: High School Diploma or GED (or 5 years relevant experience), 2 years utility experience, valid driver’s license, and a clean record. Must be 21+.
Nice to haves: Associates in Forestry or Horticulture, experience with Oncor VM System, ISA Certification, TDA Pesticide License.
Your Skills: Ability to learn company software, proficiency in MS Office, knowledge of local trees, terrain adaptability, map reading, vehicle operation, strong interpersonal and communication skills, critical thinking, vegetation management knowledge, and familiarity with utility infrastructure.
This role may not be suitable if:
You prefer not working outdoors or independently.
You are uncomfortable driving off-road vehicles or managing customer conflicts.
Training & Compliance:
ISA Arborist certification within 30 months.
Online safety and driver training required.
Additional Information:
Drug testing required.
