Role Description The Pharmacy Billing and Prior Authorization Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Lahore. This position is responsible for managing pharmacy-related billing processes, including submitting claims, tracking reimbursements, and resolving denials in coordination with insurance providers. The specialist will handle prior authorization requests by gathering clinical information, completing necessary documentation, and following up with payers to ensure timely approvals. Daily tasks include verifying patient insurance coverage, maintaining accurate records in billing systems, communicating with providers and pharmacies, and addressing billing or authorization queries from stakeholders. The role also involves collaborating with internal teams to optimize workflows, ensure compliance with payer and regulatory requirements, and support continuous improvement of revenue cycle performance.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy billing procedures, claim submission, and denial management, with experience working with insurance companies and payer policies.
- Experience handling prior authorizations, including documentation review, coordination with clinicians, and follow-up with insurance providers.
- Proficiency in medical terminology, prescription workflows, and basic understanding of healthcare reimbursement and revenue cycle processes.
- Skill in using billing software, electronic health record (EHR) systems, and standard office applications for data entry, reporting, and tracking.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear and professional communication skills for interacting with patients, providers, pharmacies, and payers.
- Ability to work on-site in Lahore, collaborate with a cross-functional team, and follow established protocols and compliance guidelines.
- Relevant experience in healthcare billing, pharmacy operations, or prior authorization; a diploma or degree in pharmacy, healthcare administration, or a related field is preferred.
