Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a dependable and compassionate Pet Retrieval Specialist to join our team as an independent contractor. In this role, you will respond to calls for deceased animal retrievals from homes, veterinary offices, and animal care facilities across the Phoenix metro area. This is a sensitive and emotionally nuanced position that requires professionalism, empathy, and respect for grieving clients.
Responsibilities:
Retrieve deceased pets and exotic animals from private homes, veterinary practices, and partner facilities.
Transport animals safely and respectfully to our mortuary or designated facility.
Communicate professionally and compassionately with grieving pet parents and veterinary staff.
Maintain a clean, respectful, and professional appearance at all times.
Handle documentation and chain-of-custody protocols accurately.
Be available for on-call assignments, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Requirements:
Valid Arizona driver’s license with a clean driving record
Reliable, insured vehicle capable of discreet animal transport
Smartphone for dispatch communication and documentation
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
Strong emotional intelligence and sensitivity to end-of-life care
Uniform is black scrubs
Previous experience in veterinary, animal care, or mortuary fields is a plus
Compensation:
Competitive per-call pay based on size of pet and distance. Paid as a 1099 contractor – you control your availability.
