HOW PER DIEM RVTs MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Our per diem RVTs are vital to keeping IHVC strong and steady. Whether you’re stepping in to support our emergency team, covering during high-volume days, or jumping into specialty care, your skill and flexibility help us maintain exceptional standards. You’ll work alongside a collaborative, skilled group of doctors and technicians in a hospital that values both quality and kindness.
What We’re Looking For:
Licensed as an RVT in California
Minimum of 2 years clinical experience preferred
Strong technical skills: Anesthesia, sample collection, patient monitoring, diagnostics
Ability to adapt to emergencies and fast-paced environments
Clear, compassionate communication with both clients and team
Detail-oriented, dependable, and calm under pressure
Bonus Points If You Have:
Emergency, specialty, or referral experience
Familiarity with EzyVet, SmartFlow, and in-house labs
Advanced anesthesia or surgical support skills
A love of teamwork and a good sense of humor on the floor
YOUR ROLE, YOUR IMPACT
As a per diem RVT, you’ll jump into a range of responsibilities based on the needs of the shift and your strengths:
Patient Care & Triage
Provide hands-on nursing care, IV fluid therapy, and critical patient monitoring
Assist in emergency triage and stabilization
Offer gentle restraint and support during diagnostics
Anesthesia & Surgical Support
Monitor anesthesia for a range of procedures
Assist with specialty surgeries and advanced treatments
Keep surgical suites and instruments prepped and clean
Diagnostics & Lab Work
Perform sample collection, bloodwork, urinalysis, and imaging support
Maintain accurate and timely medical records
Client Communication
Educate clients on home care, medications, and discharge instructions
Offer reassurance and updates throughout their pet’s stay
Team Collaboration
Participate in patient rounds and case discussions
Support assistants and less experienced team members when needed
Keep hospital flow organized, stocked, and efficient
PAY & PERKS
Hourly Rate: $29.00 – $49.00, based on experience and shift type
