Position Summary:
We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our team at CompletePet. The Payroll and Accounting Specialist oversees payroll processing operations to ensure accurate and timely salary payments, tax filings, and compliance with payroll-related regulations. This role is responsible for leading payroll staff, optimizing payroll procedures, and ensuring adherence to company policies and labor laws. Additionally, the Senior Payroll and Accounting Specialist supports the accounting department by managing financial records, assisting with audits, and performing general accounting tasks. This position plays a key role in maintaining payroll accuracy, employee satisfaction, financial integrity, and overall accounting efficiency. Essential Job Duties:
Oversee and manage the daily operations of payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate payroll disbursements.
Develop and implement efficient payroll processes and procedures to enhance accuracy and compliance.
Ensure proper calculation of wages, overtime, deductions, and tax withholdings in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.
Collaborate with the finance and accounting departments to ensure accurate payroll reconciliation and reporting.
Address and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and payroll-related issues.
Monitor payroll tax filings, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Prepare and present payroll reports and analytics to senior management.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in payroll laws and regulations, ensuring company compliance.
Work with external auditors during financial reviews and audits, providing necessary payroll documentation.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the payroll department.
Ensure compliance with the organization’s values and all applicable laws, including data protection and confidentiality policies.
Perform additional duties as assigned to meet the needs of the department and organization.
Support the accounting department by managing financial records, assisting with audits, preparing journal entries, and performing account reconciliations.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Collaborate with the finance team to prepare and analyze financial statements and reports.
Other job duties as required.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field; payroll certification (e.g., CPP, FPC) preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll processing and administration
In-depth knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
Proficiency in payroll software (ADP Workforce Now) and ERP systems; experience with automated payroll platforms is a plus.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple payroll cycles and deadlines.
Experience in accounting duties such as managing financial records, preparing journal entries, and performing account reconciliations.

External Relationships:
Corporate finance and accounting teams (for payroll processing and reconciliation)
Human Resources (for employee payroll-related matters and compliance)
Senior management (for payroll strategy and reporting)
Liaises with:
External payroll vendors (for payroll processing and benefits deductions)
Government agencies (for tax reporting and compliance)
External auditors (for payroll audits and regulatory compliance)
Physical Requirements:
Manual Dexterity: Ability to use a computer, manage paperwork, and oversee payroll tasks for extended periods.
Mobility: Ability to move throughout the office to collaborate with team members and management.
Lifting: Occasionally required to lift or move office materials, typically up to 25 lbs.
