Patient Scheduling Coordinator / Medical Receptionist — Full Time
Ganger Dermatology · Ann Arbor, Wixom and Plymouth, MI
You are the first person our patients meet and the voice they hear when something has gone wrong. Whether a visit feels calm and well-run or chaotic is largely decided at your desk, in the first thirty seconds.
This is a high-volume front office in a busy dermatology practice. It is people-facing work with real pressure in it, and the people who are great at it tend to be the ones who like that.
What The Day Actually Looks Like
You’ll greet and check in patients, answer a steady stream of calls, and book appointments across three locations and multiple providers. You’ll verify insurance, collect copays, handle prior authorizations, and keep records accurate. You’ll rearrange the schedule when a provider runs behind and tell patients the truth about the wait.
Some of those calls are difficult. Someone is worried about a biopsy result, or upset about a bill, or has been waiting forty minutes. Handling that well is the actual job.
Shifts run 8 to 10 hours, five days a week, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays and evenings.
This Is A Good Fit If
- You are genuinely good with people who are stressed, and you don’t take it personally.
- You can hold several things at once — a phone call, a patient at the desk, and a schedule that just changed — without dropping any of them.
- You’re accurate under pressure. A mistyped policy number becomes somebody’s denied claim.
- You’d rather be busy all day than watch the clock.
- You can work across our three locations as needed.
This Is The Wrong Job If
- You want quiet administrative work. This is a phone-heavy, face-to-face, interruption-driven role.
- Conflict rattles you. Some patients arrive already frustrated.
- You need a student, summer-only, or part-time schedule.
- You want to work from one location only.
What You Don’t Need
You do not need medical office experience. Front-of-house experience from hospitality, retail, call centers, or veterinary practices transfers well, and several of our team came from exactly those.
You do need a high school diploma or GED, reliable transportation, and the availability described above.
What We’ll Teach You
- Medical scheduling, insurance verification, and prior authorization.
- Our EHR, end to end.
- Enough dermatology to answer common questions confidently.
- HIPAA and patient privacy in practice, not just in training.
Compensation And Benefits
- Pay range is $15-$20 depending on availability, proven experience and skillset
- Paid time off and paid holidays
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) with company matching
- Training and growth — several of our leads and managers started at the front desk
- Quarterly team appreciation days
