The Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary is seeking to hire part-time zookeeper aides. These positions are not to exceed 999 hours per fiscal year. Zookeeper aides will be required to have two days of availability every week including at least one weekend day. Zookeeper aides work holidays, weekends, and occasional evening events. Pay range is $16.50 – $18.00 per hour
Zookeeper aides assist full-time zookeepers and fill relief shifts for zookeepers on their assigned sections. Duties include most aspects of animal husbandry such as raking, scrubbing, hosing, preparing diets, administering medications, creating and delivering enrichment, observing animal behavior, and recording notes. Zookeeper aides also assist with light maintenance on exhibits and will maintain areas around the exhibits and in service areas.
This position requires the ability to work an eight-hour shift outdoors in all weather conditions. Zookeeper aides will perform physical tasks like bending, twisting, and lifting.
Only candidates with volunteer or paid experience with exotic animals or native wildlife will be considered for this position. Paid experience with hoofstock or other large animal experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Experience with only domestic animals and personal pets will not be accepted.
