Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team in providing exceptional care for animals in a veterinary clinic setting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare and the ability to support veterinarians and technicians in delivering high-quality medical care. This role is essential in ensuring the comfort and safety of our patients while assisting with various clinical tasks.
Responsibilities
Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring that animals are calm and secure.
Perform animal restraint techniques to facilitate examinations and treatments.
Provide basic pet care, including feeding, bathing, and exercising animals as needed.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels and treatment areas.
Monitor animal behavior and report any changes or concerns to the veterinary team.
Prepare laboratory samples for testing, including blood draws and urinalysis.
Assist with inventory management, including ordering supplies and maintaining stock levels.
Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and post-treatment instructions.
Experience
Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is preferred but not required.
Knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology is beneficial for understanding medical procedures.
Familiarity with kennel operations, dog handling techniques, and animal husbandry practices is a plus.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with team members and pet owners.
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
