Responsibilities
- Assist with animal husbandry tasks including cleaning, feeding, and maintaining kennel cleanliness to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
- Handle animals safely and confidently, including dog handling, animal restraint, and basic behavior management to promote welfare and reduce stress.
- Support veterinary technicians and veterinarians with procedures such as IV insertion, medication administration, catheterization, and aseptic techniques.
- Maintain accurate record keeping of animal treatments, procedures, and client communications to ensure compliance and quality care.
- Provide excellent client service at the front desk by answering questions, scheduling appointments, and managing client records efficiently.
- Assist with laboratory tasks such as sample collection or basic testing under supervision to support diagnostic processes.
- Follow all safety protocols including PPE use, animal restraint techniques, and proper cleaning procedures to uphold health standards.
Requirements
- Previous kennel experience or animal handling background preferred; experience with veterinary clinics or critical care environments is a plus.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and husbandry practices is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform cleaning duties diligently while adhering to infection control standards.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration.
- Comfort working around animals of various sizes and temperaments, including dogs, cats, or horses if applicable.
- Willingness to learn new skills such as laboratory procedures or surgical assistance under supervision.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks in a fast-paced setting.
