Overview:
We are a busy and compassionate veterinary practice located in Brooklyn, NY, seeking a dedicated and experienced Part-Time Veterinary Assistant/Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate should be proficient in veterinary procedures, particularly in blood collection and placing IV catheters, and should be comfortable working closely with both veterinarians and clients to ensure the highest level of care for our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist veterinarians during routine exams, ensuring patients are comfortable and properly positioned.
Prepare patients for surgery, including administering anesthesia and monitoring vital signs.
Assist during surgical procedures by maintaining a sterile environment and assisting with surgical tools and equipment.
Take blood samples for diagnostic testing and prepare them for laboratory submission.
Place IV catheters and assist with IV fluid administration.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
Prepare and maintain surgical and examination rooms, ensuring they are fully stocked and sanitized.
Keep accurate and up-to-date patient records and communicate effectively with the rest of the team.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a veterinary assistant or veterinary technician.
Proficiency in taking blood and placing IV catheters.
Strong knowledge of veterinary procedures, medical terminology, and animal care.
Ability to assist in surgery and manage anesthesia protocols.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with clients and team members.
Compassionate, detail-oriented, and organized.
Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.
Hours:
Part-time position, including Sundays.
$20-$25/hour
