VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists is a fast growing, 24/7 Specialty and Emergency/Critical Care hospital seeking part-time ER/ICU Technician Assistant.
Location:
16756 SE 82nd Dr, Clackamas, OR 97015
Compensation: $21 – $25 / hr
Schedule:
Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 10pm
Responsibilities
- The Technician Assistant plays a key role in the hospital’s success by helping the Doctors and Technicians in patient care and client communication.
- While this position does have clinical duties, you will also work hand-in-hand with veterinarians, CVTs, management and all support staff to provide excellent customer services.
- Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Triage of emergency cases
- Collecting laboratory samples such as: blood, urine and feces
- Processing laboratory samples in-house
- Preparing laboratory samples for outside labs
- Helping clients through the euthanasia process
- Answering multi-line telephones
- Managing medical records, reports and correspondence
- Additional duties may be required based on the needs of the business
Qualifications
- At least one year of veterinary experience.
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
- Excellent listening and communication skills: both verbal and written.
- Compassion for pets and people–as well as awareness, understanding and respect for others’ choices.
- Proven decision making skills to choose the most appropriate course of action.
- The ability to integrate new information into problem solving.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
- The ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and be exposed to hazards associated with pets such as allergens, contagious diseases, noises, odors, bites, scratches, and animal waste.
