MANATEE SPRINGS STATE PARK

This is an exceptional opportunity within the Florida Park Service at Manatee Springs State Park. The position needs a self-motivated park service professional to fill a park ranger position, providing visitor services, maintenance, protection, administration, andresource management. The applicant must possess good visitor service and administrative skills, be able to work independently and have the ability to perform a variety of skilled trade functions using assorted equipment and tools.

The applicant must be able to work rotating shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Florida state parks are managed and preserved for enjoyment by all through providing appropriate resource-based recreational opportunities, interpretation andeducationthat help visitors connect to the Real Florida.

Manatee Springs State Park proves boardwalks aren’t only for the beach. The park’s 800-foot boardwalk runs through a majestic cypress forest overlooking one of Florida’s breathtaking first-magnitude springs. True to its namesake, manatees can be seen in the cooler months, and birds, mammals and fish are spotted year-round. The park also offers 8.5 miles of nature trails and a safe connection to the 32-mile Nature Coast State Trail.

Responsibilities:

VISITOR SERVICES:Explains facilities and services provided for public use, enjoyment andeducation; meets visitors, answers questions, answers telephone, answers correspondence, provides information and directions. Collects fees, performs cash register transactions and reconciles receipts. Attempts to resolve visitor complaints while maintaining good public relations. Provides natural and cultural history interpretive programs and unit specific services as directed.
