Do you have experience in installation, construction and repairs of landscape structures, carpentry and welding techniques, tools and equipment? Do you have good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team? If so, we want you on our Parks Services Team!

As the successful candidate as the Park Operator II, you will be responsible for the delivery of day-to-day park maintenance activities, repairs, and park development to ensure that a safe and clean park area for recreation and leisure enjoyment of the public is achieved and consistent with established standard operating procedures, policies, and strategic initiatives.

You will:

Daily park, trail, and facility maintenance such as:

Irrigation system installing, operation and maintenance

Arboriculture activities

Horticulture activities

Construction/welding of landscape structures

Machinery operations within park landscapes

Snow removal during winter months

Assist with:

On-going trail maintenance and construction

Natural area management

In-house constructed capital projects

Horticultural activities

Facility and amenity maintenance

General park operation tasks

Delivery of the risk management program

Park assets inventory

Park operational expenditures

Park operations risk management

Annual capital and operational planning

Contributes to ensuring park safety by having a good working knowledge of Park Bylaws, advising the public of bylaw and safety requirements

Provides functional direction to summer students

Other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate for this role will have post-secondary education in carpentry, horticulture, or arborist, as well as a valid BC Driver’s Licence. You will also have your Irrigation Industry Association of BC (IIABC) Certified Irrigation Technician – Level 1 certification, as well as experience working with landscaping equipment such as bobcats, tractors, and small excavators. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for this position.

This is a full-time CUPE 338 position that works 40-hours per week, Tuesday to Saturday from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm out of the North Zone. This position pays $32.09 per hour.
